I think you have a good plan to try to resolve the issues you're having with anger. Taking the time to understand the triggers and work through it are wise! Maybe by recording it in a journal, you can have a way to see what makes it worse.
As much as I love music, I too had to let a lot of my more heavy stuff go because it did exacerbate my negative behaviors. It made a difference honestly.
