The Return to Therapy

Hello friends,
Today I went to therapy again and, to be honest, I wasn't feeling all that enthusiastic about this current therapist that I have. There's nothing wrong with her as a person, but she is a DBT therapist and doesn't seem to have experience working with dissociative systems exactly. That was a concern for me, but after talking things out with her, we're going to give DBT a try to see if it will help give me additional tools for things like emotional regulation when processing my trauma. It's not IFS, but I've found a lot of good has come from DBT as well, based on my taking a DBT class for almost a year prior to seeing this therapist.
I'm continuing to tell her about my parts and my homework task until next time is to map out my parts based on the Window of Tolerance. Each part has strengths and weaknesses. It would help if I would map out what each part's role is in the Window of Tolerance, whether they primarily exist in "dysregulation" states, what they have to offer in other places on the chart, and things like that. Only problem is that I'll need multiple sheets of paper to do this on, because I'm working with almost 30 parts, given my last count of all the parts I've got (that I'm aware of). Still, it's something I'm willing to explore further, even if only for myself.
With all that being said, I'm interested to see where this will go. Will I get referred out eventually, or will this type of therapy be helpful in the long run? We'll definitely see.
Sincerely,
Rowynn
