I don't know if you guys have noticed this, but I sure do love to talk... like, a LOT. I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with talking, so long as you stop long enough to breathe and also let other people get their own thoughts into the conversation too, when it calls for it... but I think I might be overdoing some of it when it comes to me talking in my papers at school. I'm someone with a lot to say, and I feel like I was ignored for a large portion of my life, so when people talk to me, I like to sound smart, particularly when I write. There's a problem with that, though. I always write using "flowery" language in the sense that I'm using bigger words that not everyone will be familiar with. Not only that, but talking in the way that I do makes my posts much longer than they need to be. It's not only at school, but everywhere else. I don't want to make myself smaller for the comfort of others, but if I'm not being understood when I speak, then am I really communicating effectively at all...? No, I'm not, and that feels like a problem.

Maybe it's time for me to re-train myself to speak more to-the-point instead of talking around what I want to say for several sentences before finally getting to the meat and potatoes of the discussion. I'm sure my professors would be happy to see that from me, at least. And maybe others would appreciate it too, since they wouldn't have to sit through an entire book. Attention spans are much smaller these days, so I should think about that before posting too, perhaps. Just a thought.

Honestly, whatever you feel is needed. I had the same problem a few years back and what helped me was language philosophy. Particularly that of Wittgenstein.

I also learned sign language a while back and the way I was taught it, Auslan is a language built on "how do we get all the information across with the least amount of words?" and that also helped because now I think about "simple translations of ideas."

I'm not suggesting you do either but thinking along those lines does help
